Updates - Change to the shot list

When the day of filming came for the opening scene of our trailer, the lead male character was severely ill and couldnt attend filming. As this was the only day we were able to book the swimming pool for the scene we had to adapt the scene accordingly to ensure the opening scene was believable and simple for the audience to understand. We discussed the changes as a group and decided to use close up shots of the main female character around the swimming pool area and to maintain the point of view and mid shot of the same character when drowning in the pool. To ensure the audience understand the opening scene we will have a voiceover from the female character, Odyne, explaining the incident in which she believes her brother attempted to kill her and left her to die. This will then ensure the audience sympathise with Odyne creating an instant dislike to the  brother Iago. This interference with the shot list and filming day is difficult and could have delayed more filming but the group made a good plan and coped well under pressure. Changing the shot list wasn't ideal but it ensured the filming schedule remained on target.

Updates - Casting

Due to the difficulties in casting children/young teenagers to act as Odyne and Iago during their childhood years we decided to adapt the film accordingly. This is the cause for the update, to ensure we keep track of any changes made to any section of the film. As the swimming pool booked for the filming of the swimming pool scenes was concerned about the timing of the filming we decided it would be easier and more convenient to keep the same actors who play the main characters, to play their younger selves. This will ensure the audience understand the connection between the scenes in the trailer. We will adapt the mise-en-scene to allow the audience verisimilitude in the film. The female actor playing Odyne will have two pony tails, each side of her head, this will ensure a youthful image and will relate to the image of younger children at this time. The male actor playing Iago will have spiked hair held by gel. This childlike 90's image will make sure the character looks younger than when he is seen later on in the trailer; when he has become a successful adult. The actors will have to perform realistically and will have to ensure they make the scene believable by acting childishly; running along poolside screaming and acting playfully.
The change in scheme isn't ideal for the story line we were attempting to portray in the film, however, using the same actors will ensure realism. It will also take some pressure off the group as the actors are all willing to act at the swimming pool, so we do not have to cast another couple of young actors.

Theme Park Rides

As well as production companies distributing products from the film they have recently released, they are also now allowing for the production of rides in famous theme parks around the world. In Disneyland; Florida or Paris, there are rides made based on the Disney films created over the years, for example, there is a 'Finding Nemo' adventure ride for smaller children to explore after seeing the adventurous movie. There is also an Indiana Jones adventure for the older visitors at the park.

In the Universal Park in Florida, there is a separate section of the theme park based solely on the Comic Book films created by Universal. In this area, Spiderman, Hulk, X-Men and more are advertised through the theme park rides created and based on these stories. The Spiderman ride is an interactive ride allowing the visitors access to the adventurous life of the hero and the battle he faces from his villains.

These theme parks allow for constant advertisements of the films created by Disney and Universal. This is not the most cheap way of advertising however, it is continuous and allows for international viewing, meaning the audience for the films is increased by size.

Location Planning

When choosing the locations we were planning on filming at, it was important to be realistic with our choices. However, we didn't want to be dull or ordinary so allowed much thought on this planning stage. One of the locations we decided was a pool for the opening scene of the trailer; in which a young Odyne and Iago play fight, but Iago nearly drowns Odyne in their family swimming pool. In order to ensure this scene was able to be filmed, we needed to plan ahead to book a swimming pool to film at. This was hard as many swimming pools do not allow cameras into the swimming pool area, as well as many pools being a members only center. Luckily, a school in Wickford, named Castledon School, is allowing the group to film at their school swimming pool during hours in which the pool is unused. Myself and the school swimming teacher exchanged several emails to prepare days for filming when the pool was available. This means we have a small schedule to film the scene in, but we are more likely to get the work done. I work as a lifeguard and therefore will be ensuring safety in and around the swimming pool area when filming. We are grateful for the opportunity the school has given the group as it was a hard location to find, and we intend on creating interesting and thought provoking shots using the location.
